Their meat is fairly tough and not widely eaten, but they are prized as game fish. These powerful, streamlined beasts can grow to more than 10 feet (3 meters) and weigh up to 220 pounds (100 kilograms). When hooked, they will fight vigorously, leaping and diving repeatedly, and sometimes taking hours to land. Red Snapper Fishing Costa Rica are fairly abundant throughout their range, and their population is considered stable. They are under no special status or protections.
The sailfish has engraved Costa Rica on every international angler’s wish list. The tournaments are usually during June and July but there is not really a particular season regarding sails. The beautiful fish, spending more time in the air than in the water during the fight is not as powerful as the Red Snapper fishing from Herradura, but always spectacular. Double and triple hookups are not uncommon.
